As seen on ABC’s Shaun Micallef’s Mad As HellUtopiaWhovians and Get Krackin’, The Comedy Channel’s The Slot, feature film The Merger and Netflix’s Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun.

Award-winning comedian, singer, actor and co-creator of comedy duo Double Denim, Michelle Brasier, returns this year with her solo show, Average Bear.

Average Bear sheds light on Michelle’s personal experience living in the shadows of an hereditary illness, whilst simultaneously weaving in the fictional story of Average, a bear with a problematic fear of hibernation. Heartbreaking and hilarious, Average Bear yo-yos between grief and joy whilst reminding audiences that life is too short to be serious and too short to waste, often at the same time.

Average Bear marks Michelle’s solo return to the comedy festivals following her 2016 hit show, Space Tortoise. Since that time, Michelle has joined forces with fellow comedian Laura Frew to create and star in Double Denim. Cementing themselves as firm festival favourites, the duo secured nominations for the Golden Gibbo Award at Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2017 and 2018, ultimately taking out the Director’s Choice Award for Double Denim Adventure Show in 2018, as well as winning Best Newcomer Award at the Sydney Comedy Festival the same year.
